Technically, Coleus is not a true Bonsai because the word Bonsai means "tree in a tray" and Coleus is not a tree, it is a foliage plant.
That said, they can be trained to mimic the look of a mature tree, they actually do better indoors than outdoors,
they do not require direct sun and they can go longer between watering than traditional bonsai.
Their colorful foliage and low maintenance make them a good addition to any collection.
They are great for office and low-light indoor areas.
