The Divi-Divi tree (Libidibia coriaria) isatropical treeoriginally native to Mexico, South & Central America and the Caribbean Islands. They grow to 30 feet in nature and produce twisted seed pods 2" in length. More information below the photos.
The pods contain tannin used in the tanning industry, and a black dye used for ink. The pods also have medicinal properties. The hard, dark colored wood is used for carpentry. Their small compound leaves and branching characteristics make them a great addition to any bonsai collection.
